## What to know about Italian transcription

- Regional accents and dialects (Neapolitan, Sicilian, Venetian) differ from Standard Italian and have no separate code. Test dialect recordings.
- Italian elides articles and prepositions with apostrophes (l', dell'). Tokenize on apostrophes before you compare or search.
- Accented capitals (È) are often typed as E' in references; normalize before measuring.
