What to know about Italian transcription

• Regional accents and dialects (Neapolitan, Sicilian, Venetian) differ from Standard Italian and have no separate code. Test dialect recordings.
• Italian elides articles and prepositions with apostrophes (l', dell'). Tokenize on apostrophes before you compare or search.
• Accented capitals (È) are often typed as E' in references; normalize before measuring.

Choosing a model

Start with oracle (US$1.44 per hour) for production Italian audio.
